The stakes are high when it comes to the spring racing carnival season, especially when it comes to spring fashion. The spring season serves up a blooming bouquet of florals in retro fit and flare dresses and flattering jersey staples. Infuse a little fun into your race day this spring with Maiocchi’s five tips for spring races.
1. Be ahead of the trend
This season is all about echoing your own style with layered florals, quirky prints and classic black and white. Be ahead of the trends with matching prints and give race day a modern makeover. Embrace the fifties with the figure flattering styles, the bolder the better don't be afraid to mix prints.
2. Stay Classy on the Field
Play by the race-wear rules, there are certain things to avoid at the races, to help keep your modesty intact. Our Mum tip for any race day is to keep hydrated, drinking in moderation is key to staying classy at any event, pacing yourself when sipping on cocktails and balancing with water between drinks. You will feel fresher come morning when you're kids are jumping on the bed.
Oh and ladies - Slip, slop, slap. Remember sunburnt shoulders are an awful fashion accessory.
3. Consider Comfortable Footwear
Wearing those new heels you got may not be the best idea when heading to the races, you’ll most likely be standing all day and nothing looks less ladylike than being barefoot.
Increase your luck and comfort with a pair of saltwater sandals tucked away in your clutch bag. Put them on at the end of the day and your feet will do a happy dance. The saltwater sandals come is so many colours you’ll be sure to match them to any outfit.
4. The Yays and Neighs of Race Day Millinery
We think Millinery is a must at race day. Race day attire simply isn’t complete without wearing a complimenting head piece.
Of course, there are rules..... No actual hats, beanies, visors and please no beach hats…
You want your fabulous frock to be the focal point not the gigantic bee or stag horns that has landed on your head!
Why not try something that compliments your frock. We love working with Mel from Flora Fascinata. She has amazing designs and has created this black lace heart headpiece to match the Maiocchi Heart to Heart dress.
5. Dressing for the Occasion
